Congrats to Leila Reid - Scholarship winner!
The Okotoks Raiders are awarding two scholarships under our annual scholarship program (you can see more information on that program here). Each recipient has earned a $1,000 scholarship toward their eventual post-secondary studies. Here is a bit of information on each of our recipients.
Leila Reid began playing lacrosse with the Okotoks Raiders in 2015 and has continued playing box lacrosse through the formation of the Calgary Fury female lacrosse club. She also started playing field lacrosse in 2015 and hopes to play for the Okotoks Junior Ladies Raiders in 2021. She has been an ambassador for the Raiders both on and off the floor and has helped to mentor many younger players helping to coach at Raiders camps and with her brother's teams.
Away from lacrosse, Leila volunteers with her school athletics programs. She is also involved in the community helping with the Backpack Campaign to deliver backpacks to families in need at Christmas, Feed the Hungry and Habitat for Humanity. After high school, Leila is hoping to put her scholarship toward her university tuition.
